CONTRACTION

Caving inside of me like a disease
Like a blood-thirsty virus you can’t get rid of
How can you learn as your brain cells deplete?

Bit by bit the contraction overtakes you
Eating up more and chewing on your ventricles

You try to see the cause of the madness
But just as you awake your eyes begin to bleed
Seeping helplessly as you cry out in pain

Tasting the bitterness of regret
Your tongue feels something familiar
You begin to decode but before the solution is reached
You swallow your tongue and begin to choke

Your bloody eyes roll back
And your throat erupts in gags
You think hard of how to survive
But lacerations within you cause insanity

As you begin to feel weak from the lack of air
Your lungs cave in as the sickness reaches the air supply
Puffy tissue ripped like moss through your being

You fall to the floor
No longer able to stand
And like road kill you lay prostrated when she finds you
So long dead, your body decomposing

But she just wanted to tell you she was sorry
You committed a fatal decision because of her
But because of the bridge you burned
She’ll keep blaming herself
