Standing high facing the wind
Looking down to face my doom
Raging and wild
The water flows onward
Pouring over the cliff's edge
Pressing against the wounds
The sun isn't shining
And clouds cover the sky
Faded from vision
You stand at the bottom staring up at me
Up at the peak
You wonder what I'm doing
Hoping I'm not going to jump
I breathe in the mist around me
Smell the fresh scent of blood
That flows from my veins
I'm too high up for you to see
I'm bleeding here patiently
I step closer to the water's edge
Looking down for an easy escape
Screaming to me, you begin to climb the canyon
I just sit and watch
You stop to see if I'm okay
Looking around I see nothing but pain
Taking a leaf off a nearby tree
I put it to my nose
Nice to know something can smell of green
While all else is colored gray
For what seems like hours
I stand, staring off into the distance
Trying to find myself
In all of this illusion
Where can I be free?
What can make me happy?
Fluttering through the air
A snowflake gently falls
I reach out my hand to try and catch it
When I slip and trip and fall
Tumbling down
Falling to my fate
Reaching out for your hand
But you're too far away
About to reach bottom
I struggle for an escape
My body falls helplessly
Onto the solidness beneath me
Running to my aid, you pull me to safety
My lifeless corpse lies limp
You look at my arm and see I was weak already
The fall may not have killed me otherwise
You look up at the sky
Tears fall from your eyes as you take me in your arms
Telling me you love me
In a rush of anger you scratch at your wrists
Giving up
But it won't help me now
You calm yourself and start to think
If you would have only made it up in time
It's not your fault
I planned this all on my own
I chose this time of day
I chose this time of month
I chose this time of year
All because to land on solid ice instead of water
Tends to send you lifeless much more quickly
You crawl to where I landed
Traced your fingers along the blood
Write my name in scarlet
Quickly, you step off the ice and run back to me
Picking me up you carry me to an area of grass
Sobbing uncontrollably you tell me everything
How you feel
What you'll do now that I'm gone
Everything you've told me and haven't told me
I heard in those few seconds
Getting up, you run back to the deathbed I died upon
And write something more
You write, "the waterfall of blood"
With the last letter written
A rainbow shoots over the sky
And the sun starts to shine
Birds start to sing their song of joy
You look over to where you placed my being
And I am no longer there
You look everywhere and can't seem to find me
But I am right there in front of you
I am right inside your heart
And in your soul
And from time to time you'll hear me say I love you
Because I left you for a reason
You don't see this now
But eventually you will
And when you do I know you'll understand
This all happened for a reason
A reason long forgotten
